From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love…
Book Three of The Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy
County Mayo is rich in the traditions of Ireland, legends that Branna O’Dwyer fully embraces in her life and in her work as the proprietor of The Dark Witch shop, which carries soaps, lotions, and candles for tourists, made with Branna’s special touch.
Branna’s strength and selflessness hold together a close circle of friends and family—along with their horses and hawks and her beloved hound. But there’s a single missing link in the chain of her life: love…
She had it once—for a moment—with Finbar Burke, but a shared future is forbidden by history and blood. Which is why Fin has spent his life traveling the world to fill the abyss left in him by Branna, focusing on work rather than passion.
Branna and Fin’s relationship offers them both comfort and torment. And though they succumb to the heat between them, there can be no promises for tomorrow. A storm of shadows threatens everything that their circle holds dear. It will be Fin’s power, loyalty, and heart that will make all the difference in an age-old battle between the bonds that hold their friends together and the evil that has haunted their families for centuries.
I had to wait forever it seems to finally get this from the library. But it was worth it. In trilogies, you can sometimes guess what’s going to happen. I love Nora Roberts but most of her series are ones that you know what’s going to happen: love, mystery, and good wins. This sums up this trilogy very well. BUT, that said, it’s a good trilogy to read. You fall in love with the characters and you despise the evil, Cabhan. You can tell it’s the 3rd book, because you get the sense that it is sort of rushed and Roberts wanted to wrap it up.
I liked it because it was an Irish setting, magical, beautiful telling of family and friends coming together to defeat dark magic. It was sweet, funny, and very lovely. The love you feel between Branna and Finbar is so wonderful. You want to slap Branna for being so stubborn sometimes but she eventually just lets go and lets the forces that be lead her. I mean, do you know ahead of time that she and Fin will end up together, absolutely- no need to be a genius to figure out that- but it is always so enchanting to see how a love story plays out.
The story is much of the same as the first two books in the trilogy. They are trying to kill Cabhan. And since it’s the 3rd book in a trilogy, I don’t need to tell you how it ends: and if I do- well, they succeed! Yay for spoilers lol
It’s a good trilogy. I would suggest it for anyone who has never read Nora Roberts before and anyone who loves fantasy, magic, good vs evil. I would recommend it for anyone who likes Irish based tellings also.
3 out of 5 stars!
